FSIC329 Physical Chemistry for Forensics
Basics of physical chemistry and inorganic chemistry. An understanding of simple chemical kinetics including zero, first and second order rate laws. An understanding of the concept of activation energy and its effects on the rates of chemical reactions. The tools to derive the rate law for simple reaction mechanisms. The students should be able to describe various types of isomerism, which can occur in coordination complexes. The students should be able to give the systematic names of simple coordination compounds.

This course will cover the basics of digital forensics; the cases, which fall under the purview of digital crimes; the types of digital crimes; the elements involved in investigation of digital crimes.

On the completion of the course, the students will be able to successfully apply the knowledge of the forensic accounting in fraud detection and fraud investigation, valuation of closely held businesses, lost profits analyses, and various types of litigation support services. The objective to understand both the pervasiveness and the causes of fraud and white-collar crime in our society, examine the types of fraud and fraud schemes that affect business enterprises, explore methods of fraud detection and prevention, and increase their ability to recognize potential fraudulent situations.

Major Paper/Project is a scholarly essay/research project/design project that shows evidence of critical analysis and understanding of the topic. Project is also design based where a group of students on various aspects of an integrated design.
